GOT QUESTIONS?

Frequently Asked Questions.

What towns make up the Midwest Hamptons?
The Midwest Hamptons covers seven lakeside communities along Southwest Michigan’s Lake Michigan shoreline: New Buffalo, Union Pier, Lakeside, Harbert, Sawyer, Michiana, and Grand Beach. Each town has its own personality — from the walkable harbor energy of New Buffalo to the quiet, wooded luxury of Lakeside and Harbert. Together they form one of the most underrated summer destinations in the country.
Memorial Day through Labor Day is peak season — the beaches are warm, the events calendar is packed, and every restaurant and winery is firing on all cylinders. That said, fall is genuinely underrated. The crowds thin out, the colors along the dunes are stunning, and the wine trail and distilleries are at their best. There’s no bad time to be here.
About 60 to 90 minutes depending on where you’re coming from and which town you’re heading to. New Buffalo is the closest — just past the Indiana border on I-94. It’s close enough for a day trip, easy enough for a long weekend, and exactly far enough to feel like you’ve actually left.
One of the best. The beaches are calm and shallow, the towns are walkable and safe, and there’s genuinely great food that doesn’t require a reservation three weeks out. New Buffalo has an excellent beach and a harbor kids love. Sawyer has Journeyman Distillery for the adults while the kids run around the grounds. The whole corridor is built for exactly this.
